Senior Support Team

School support staff include a variety of staff members who provide specialized instructional support as well as support to students while they utilize school facilities.


School support staff play an important role in ensuring students are learning in a safe and supportive learning environment. They foster positive, trusting relationships with students and improve school climate by encouraging parent and family involvement in education. Because students connect with school support staff on many occasions throughout the school day, support staff can model positive behavior and send positive messages to students.

Social Worker

The school Social Worker collaborates with staff, families and outside providers, to support the wellbeing of all children within the school. Children can see the school counsellor through either self-referral, staff referral or parent referral. The school counsellor will refer to outside services when necessary.Duties and responsibilities of Social worker are:

  • Attend Admission related duties and diagnose special need students during admission and brief the SLT
  • Individual student counseling.
  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
  • Conduct Student personal development sessions.
  • Analyze in depth and prepare action plan for SEN/slow learners and gifted students improvement in your section and submit to the AC etc

SEN Coordinator

Children with SEN may need very little additional support, or they may need significant support and adjustments.Depending on their needs they may only receive SEN support for a short amount of time, or may require it throughout their educational journey by our SEN Co. Duties and responsibilities of SEN Co are:

  • Conduct teacher, student and parent survey for the suspicious students
  • Ensure the gifted or more able students are provided with extended works/ challenge tasks in lessons.
  • Follow up the progress of the SEN and gifted students in the section and record their progress.
  • Follow up with activity coordinator based on the upcoming activities. Ensure SEN students are involved etc

Career Counselor

In GVIS Career counselors help to plan career development activities for all students as well as career information activities for teachers. They guide students in making decisions about careers, such as choosing an occupation and the type of degree to pursue. Also teach students job-search skills, such as interviewing and networking etc.

Behaviour Committee

To achieve the aims and goals of Grace Valley Indian School we believe that positive student behaviour plays an integral component in achieving an effective learning environment. It is essential that positive behaviour is an integral component in order to provide an effective learning environment.

The School behaviour Committee is a subcommittee of the School Development Program. It exists to review student behaviour to ensure that they are fair and consistent with all policies of the school.

Class Teachers

The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning. Essential duties of the class teacher includes:

  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings etc

Student Council

Grace Valley Indian School values the needs and emotions of the students giving opportunities to interact with student counselor confidentially and comfortably which helps the students to regulate their difficulties in the personal life, family life as well as in their academic progress. We have a specific procedure to reach the student counselor in case of any school/personal problem which is depicted everywhere in the school for the awareness of the students.

Student Council members are encouraged to explore ideas and plan activities in the interest of creating a happier school environment for all students.  It is the member’s responsibility for organizing the middle and high school weekly assemblies, and the monthly elementary Community Sharing Time.  Students organize educational presentations, games, and competitions to reinforce character education, kindness, and the School’s mission, among other topics.

Assistant Teachers

Assistant teachers Work with students individually or in small groups on activities under the supervision of the class teacher. This may include note-taking, scribing, clarifying teacher instructions, editing, organization of student's learning materials and general supervision also assist the students to comply with teacher instruction. An assistant teacher also supervises students outside the classroom during lunchtime, field trips or recess.
